Newsround is the UK’s only integrated news service for children. With bulletins throughout the day, every day, and a comprehensive online service, we deliver news to under 12 year olds in an engaging and innovative way.

Main Responsibilities

To be a successful studio Runner on Newsround, you’ll be enthusiastic and willing to get stuck in with all aspects of assisting with our daily live bulletins, working with filming teams.

You will provide support on location.

Tapeless workflow management on location (card labelling, card distribution etc) and ensuring rushes get back to base and are unloaded after shoot. Supporting design teams on location.

Manage kit on location, ensuring batteries are fully charged on overnight shoots. Checking kit is complete and undamaged at all times. Manage the collection and checking of kit before and after a shoot.

Scroll the autocue and other studio based duties, assisting the journalists and presenters on shift.

And in the Production office, we require you to:

Edit support (eg ingest, music finding, rushes wrangling).

Editorial support for the production team, specifically for the planning team, with basic research (eg location finding).

Are you the right candidate?

You will have an understanding of and empathy for the interests and passions of modern British children and be interested in a wide range of general subjects including arts, news, children’s books, sport, cultures, science, nature, animals, entertainment, music, web content, baking and crafts.

You’ll have an understanding and passion for helping to create content for Newsround’s young and diverse audiences across different platforms including TV and digital.

Basic IT skills such as knowing how to use Word, Excel & Microsoft Outlook

Basic camera and editing skills are desirable.

Having a driving licence would be beneficial.
