This is an exciting career-building opportunity for an individual with a finance/administrative background to join as a Royalties Administrator within our Talent Accounting team. This is a forward-thinking and dynamic team that works together to ensure that our accounting and reporting obligations to rights holders and profit participants are met.
The Independent Production Accounting (IPA) team sits within the Talent Accounting and Rights Negotiation (TARN) Department. The team reports and pays royalties and net profit shares due on BBC Studios Distribution sales to independent producers and other parties who are involved in the production or financing of programmes. The terms for these payments are entered onto the Alliant royalty system (aka CASPAR) and the payment calculations are reviewed by the team before distribution statements and any payments are issued.
Main Responsibilities
We are seeking one permanent head and one 9 month FTC contract for the team.
As a Royalty Administrator, you will analyse rights acquisition agreements e.g. distribution agreements with independent production companies and other rights clearance information to determine the type of royalties payable and ensure the terms are reflected on the royalty system, CASPAR.
You will assist with the validation of monthly royalty calculations to ensure payments are accurate and royalty costs are correctly reflected in the financial accounts to protect the business.
You will coordinate the monthly uploads of data such as sales, distribution costs, and content metadata into the royalty system from other BBCS systems required to enable accurate royalty and profit share calculations.
You will resolve queries received from all rights holders (such as Independent Producers and Contributors) and other department stakeholders in a timely manner and in line with agreed standards.
Are you the right candidate?
At BBC Studios, we seek people who are passionate about who we are and what we do.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, numerate, analytical, able to summarise complex data with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to your daily tasks.
You will be able to work to tight deadlines and confidently work with a range of software packages including Excel at an advanced level.
Royalty experience in a media environment will be highly desirable coupled with strong administrative and interpersonal skills.
