BBC Education exists to transform lives through education. That clear vision drives everything we do as we lead the overall education strategy for the BBC.

The BBC Own It website is aimed at keeping 7 to 11 year olds safe, secure and happy online. It has engaging and inspiring content for the young audience but also their parents and teachers.

Own It is part of BBC Education and relaunched on Safer Internet Day in February 2022. It has a new focus on reaching children through the adults in their lives as well as continuing to provide fun and informative child-facing support.

Main Responsibilities

Supporting and creating a range of impactful Own It content that gives 7-11 year olds advice, support and inspiration to help them thrive online.

Content will range from fast-turnaround memes and GIFs, to longer form articles and listicles, as well as some video production.

Content may sit on the Own It website and/or a range of partner brands and channels.

Writing briefs for interesting and relevant content for Own It site.

Are you the right candidate?

Principally, we are looking for researchers who can demonstrate enthusiasm and creativity, particularly in childrens and educational content.

We want someone with a background in digital production, or a demonstrable interest in working with emerging technologies and platforms to serve audiences.

You’ll need resilience and stamina to sustain performance when facing competing priorities and tight deadlines.

Also essential is an awareness of BBC editorial guidelines and other policies that relate to working with children, or a desire to gain this knowledge quickly.
