BBC Hiring for Producer – BBC Education – The Other Side Of The Story Job at Salford, North West England, England Full Time

We’re looking for a dynamic and creative producer with a passion for connecting with young people, creating fun, funny and impactful content and a strong belief in the BBC’s values and mission. The Other Side of the Story is a BBC Education Campaign aimed at engaging 12-16 year olds with news and news issues, giving them the media literacy and critical thinking skills to better understand the information they see and share online each day. Having launched in June 2022 we’re looking for a producer to oversee the next phase of our content offering, promote and develop existing content and help raise awareness of the campaign across the BBC and the outside world.

Main Responsibilities

• To produce distinctive content on a variety of platforms.
• To work effectively with other departments, suppliers & partners (internal & external) ensuring the BBC maintains excellent relationships throughout.
• Lead, motivate and support a team, ensuring that the editorial vision is communicated and understood.
• Responsible for signing off completed programmes or material for broadcast
• Responsibility for project management appropriate to the given discipline, such as the construction of a full production schedule and budget in conjunction with Production Management and others.
• To ensure content reflects our diverse audiences.
• Deputising where appropriate for senior team members.
• To keep up to date with emerging industry trends.
• Where relevant, liaise with Rights teams and contract negotiators and ensure copyright and contracts adhere to BBC regulations.
• Develop and manage positive working relationships with staff, contributors and talent and be able to give constructive feedback.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the department’s strategy and policy.
• Seek improvements in content production to develop further efficiencies in working practices.
• Accountable for the compliance and delivery of content, acting within BBC Editorial, Legal and Health & Safety guidelines.

Are you the right candidate?

You’ll be passionate about finding new ways to connect with audiences, knowledgeable of the platforms and types of content that appeal to young people, and full of ideas for content and promotion. You’ll be a great communicator, used to working with other BBC departments and outside companies and have a proven track record of managing multiple projects at the same time and managing teams and inspiring creative.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Track record of making content that connects with young people.
• Demonstrable experience of making digital content for web, TV and/or social.
• Ability to make complex issues fun, engaging and easy to understand.
• Experience of signing off and editing content and scripts.
• Experience of managing teams and inspiring creativity.
• Experience of commissioning content and working with indies
