The Archive Delivery team in Glasgow is looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join them on attachment / fixed term contract for twelve months.
This role is within the Archive Delivery team, which is part of the Archives Technology and Services department within the Technology and Product Group.
What does all that mean?
The Archive Delivery team are responsible for enabling digital media content to get in, around, and out of the BBC and for it to be findable by others who need it. Archives Technology and Services manage the physical and digital archives, content delivery systems and storage, making the archives accessible and searchable to all and lastly the Technology and Product Group within the BBC use technology to create opportunities and empower creativity whilst designing, developing and delivering the BBC’s audience-facing digital products.
You will be joining a team of engineers who developed the BBC’s File-Based Delivery product, which gets media files from production companies into the broadcast chain and are developing a set of new REST API-based components to transform the way the BBC handles media in the future, linking-up a diverse range of content stores from across the organisation.
