If so, the Own It team are looking for a Journalism Researcher to join their team.
The Own It App is a wellbeing product aimed at young people receiving their very first smartphone and entering a personal digital world. Using a unique combination of self-reporting and machine learning the technology assists children in making good choices and intervenes when potentially harmful situations are encountered. Engaging, short, snack-able content is served to the audience via a daily feed or delivered as an intervention to help guide young people’s behaviour in the right direction.

Main Responsibilities
As part of the Own It the team, the journalism researcher will build content items within a CMS, including articles, quizzes and video and generate ideas for the Own It app and web platforms, contributing to the creative treatment of that content.
You will carry out in-depth research for all of Own It’s platforms, ensuring complete accuracy and relevance to the subject along with liaising with contributors, experts and talent to set up shoots and stories. You will build relationships with other teams and work closely with other departments, including Newsround and the wider Children’s & Education team,

Can you generate great story ideas and turn those ideas into compelling content for our audience of 8 – 12-year-old kids plus their parents and teachers?
We’re looking for a self-starting individual with excellent research skills. Someone who can carry out in-depth research on topics relating to online safety and digital wellbeing and can write great copy that contains all the right information whilst also being clear and concise.
Confident in working with talent, with kids and young people, you should also be able to discuss a complicated concept with a consultant.
The ideal person for this role is confident in finding the right people to talk to in order to get to the heart of the story and produce a great piece of compelling content. The role needs someone with skills & experience behind a camera and outstanding digital editing skills as well as the ability to learn new software and other tools and to teach others how to use them too.
An ability to be unfazed by tight deadlines and excited by a varied workload where the tasks are driven by what you input into the team are a must as well.
