The Accountancy or Taxation Professional apprenticeship at the BBC should be your next step if you’re aspiring to advance your career and further your knowledge, skills and experience in finance.

As well as studying for a recognised professional qualification with our gold-standard training provider partner, you’ll also get first-hand understanding of how the world’s largest and best-known public service broadcaster manages its finances, keeps on top of its taxes and ensures that the content we make gives best value to our audiences.

Working under the guidance of our in-house finance professionals you’ll develop a range of specialist hands-on experience in providing financial advice across a vast range of business areas right across the organisation.

• Start Date: September 2023
• Duration: 40 months
• Salary: £23,842 in year one (plus £4,918 London Weighting for those individuals who have London as their primary work base)
• Locations: 5 roles available across Cardiff & London
• Typically leading to: Permanent role with our Finance Team

Main Responsibilities

Delivering effective financial management, advice and support, alongside your senior management team, to ensure that best practice is paramount and that robust and top-level decision-making is at the heart of the BBC’s financial dealings.

Under the expert coaching of our Financial Business Partners you will assist in the design, development and implementation of initiatives that tackle key business challenges and engender more effective financial management.

On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be awarded a qualification that is accredited by a recognised industry organisation. This qualification provides eligibility to apply for membership of one or more of the UK’s professional bodies, subject to meeting the requirements/relevant regulations expected.

Are you the right candidate?

You are fully versed in financial trends and modelling and fluent in the differences between services funded by licence fees and commercial services. You’ll be a practical thinker with natural problem solving skills while able to work on your own and stay motivated. Prepared to juggle work and study and work well under pressure. You’ll also need the following:

• Be aged 18 or over when the course starts in September 2023
• Be an accountancy or business and finance graduate. We’ll also consider applications from candidates who have completed a Level 3 AAT or CICM qualification. Alternatively, you may have a qualification such as the Level 3 Assistant Account or Level 4 Professional Accounting or Taxation Technician apprenticeship
• Be legally allowed to work in the UK
• Have lived in the UK, Ireland or the European Economic Area (EEA), for at least three years before the start of the apprenticeship. Or have either pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme and lived in the UK, EEA or Gibraltar for at least three years
• We are unable to consider applications from anyone who has already completed 7 or more modules of the full ACA qualification, please check out our other Trainee schemes.
