Job Description:

CNA1 Student

POSITION SUMMARY

To attend class to obtain CNA1 certification in order to provide patient and family care as part of the health care team in accordance with the mission, vision, and policies and procedures of Bay Area Hospital. Monitors and adjusts environment to maintain safety in the environment of care. At the direction of the RN, may assist to feed the patient and assist in activities of daily living.

CNA Training Program
Fridays (4:00pm-8:00pm), Saturdays (8:00am-4:00pm), Sundays (8:00am-4:00pm)

Monitors and adjusts environment to maintain safety in the environment of care. At the direction of the RN, may assist to feed the patient and assist in activities of daily living.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 
  Maintains patient safety from self and environment
• 
  Assists the patient with meals and feeding; activities of daily living
• 
  Assists patient up when necessary and as per instructions from an Registered Nurse
• 
  Maintains effective communication
• 
  Reports observations and safety measures utilized to Registered Nurse
• 
  Gives clear, simple directions to patient, reinforces teaching and orientation to the patient
• 
  Follows direction from the Registered Nurse about safety for the patient and the environment of care
• 
  Maintains and enforces strict patient confidentiality and respects patient and family rights
• Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• 
  Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
• 
  Recognizes and reports abnormal occurrences
• 
  Demonstrates competence by ongoing completion of any or all of the following:
• 
  Proficiency testing
• 
  Skill demonstration
• 
  Practice of core standards for service excellence
• 
  Provides patient care and performs tasks using job skills, growth, and development knowledge

• 
  Effective communication skills both verbally and written

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

• 
  American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) or must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 60-day grace period
• 
  SAFE class or organization approved workplace violence training or obtain within 6 months of hire which must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 6 month grace period
• 
  Obtain CNA1 license within 3 months of hire
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE

• No previous experience needed
