Bath & North East Somerset Council Hiring for Elective Home Education Visitor Job at Keynsham, England Full Time

INTERNAL ONLY

The Alternative Learning Team are looking for an Elective Home Education (EHE) Visitor to carry out the local authority’s duties under relevant Education and Child Care Acts in relation to EHE. This is a part time, fixed term contract.

As the EHE Visitor you will:

• Ensure that parents/carers are aware of their rights and responsibilities as home educators and those of the local authority.
• Provide advice on good practice and available resources for parents who request it.
• Conduct home visits or contact via other methods, families who have elected to home educate, to establish if a child is receiving an education that meets the requirements of section 7 of the 1996 Education Act.
• Produce written reports that includes a judgement on whether the requirements of Section 7 of the 1996 Education Act have been met.
• Supportively challenge families who have elected to home educate if the education provided does not meet requirements of Section 7 of the 1996 Education Act and provide measurable recommendations and timescale for improvement.
• Develop and maintain information recording systems using LiquidLogic, EYES and other management information systems as appropriate. Collect & collate data and prepare reports for Alternative Learning Team Manager.
• Ensure that effective internal and external working relationships are established and maintained with staff from organisations relevant to the work of the Alternative Learning Team

Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes walk away.
