Barnett Waddingham Hiring for Trainee Management Accountant – CIMA Job at Birmingham, England Full Time

The finance team is based from the London and Birmingham offices and currently comprises a team of 12 and due to continued growth we now seeking to recruit a graduate to join us as a CIMA Trainee Accountant. This is a permanent position and can be based from our Birmingham or London offices. The successful applicant will work under our WorkSmart framework – sharing time between home and the office.

Responsibilities: This role has a wide ranging level of responsibility and is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the accounting records of the business in accordance with UK GAAP. Barnett Waddingham is an LLP but has several limited companies and regulated entities within the group.

Full training will be provided to undertake:

• Accounts preparation – including learning double entry bookkeeping, journal posting, nominal ledger, sales ledger and purchase ledger accounting.
• Purchase ledger exposure – transactions and reconciliations
• Sales ledger exposure – transactions and reconciliations
• Assisting with preparation of management accounts and maintenance of back up schedules.
• Preparation of returns that are required by the HMR&C such as VAT and PSA documentation.
• Accruals and prepayments experience
• Preparation of accounting records for all BW trading companies
• Preparation documents required for the audit of the businesses
• Analysis of expenditure passing through the business.
• Responsibility for the credit control department including monthly review meetings of difficult cases.
• Escalation of debts to the relevant partner as necessary.
• Experience in credit control team.
• Assistance with administration of the joint venture company and liaison with partners.
• Preparation of any reports required by the bank for covenant purposes.
• Assistance in designing and maintaining internal controls
• Liaising with other internal teams where appropriate

Qualifications: Educated to A-Level standard with good grades in at least one numerate subject
A degree is preferable but not essential
English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent – grade 6 or higher
