Barnardo’s Hiring for Dean of The BU, Barnardo’s Corporate University Job at Remote Full Time

Last year Barnardo’s launched The BU – the Barnardo’s corporate university, a pioneering initiative that is the first of its kind in our sector. The BU is part of the charity’s ten-year Corporate Strategy commitment to respond to the rapidly changing environment, with the aim of ‘learning today for tomorrow’s world’.

In the last year we have made good progress in setting firm foundation for BU, progressing our on line learning platform and reshaping our resources to take BU forward to the next level and achieve our exciting vision to be a learning organisation. ,

The BU offers learning for its 8,000 paid colleagues and, in time, will provide structured learning opportunities for its 14,000+ volunteers as well. The BU will also perform an essential function in assisting the organisations’ workforce to be ready for resurgence following the pandemic. Offering a broad and diverse range of learning experience for its people, sharing the charity’s own extensive knowledge and experience but also drawing on the very best of what is out there, helping its people to make connections and self-direct when, what and how they learn.

This pivotal leadership role will;

• Lead the design, development, implementation and evaluation of learning and development programmes on offer to paid and unpaid colleagues, young people and partners, in line with the Corporate Strategy.
• Be the senior strategic lead, defining and embedding individual and organisational learning at Barnardo’s.
• Ensure The BU drives the wider systems change and transformation of learning, ED&I and Trauma responsive practice across Barnardo’s.
• Foster and empower “Learning Leaders” across Barnardo’s.
• Drive and embed the Staff Engagement agenda through a focused programme.

If you have the following skills and experience, then we want to learn more about you;

• Extensive previous successful experience in promoting learning and knowledge management in a comparable complex environment.
• Experience of leading academic and/or vocational learning provisions across a diverse range of audience and learning cohorts.
• Experience of using learning to drive and embed cultural change.
• Experience of partnership working with learning organisations and external providers.
• Broad understanding and recent experience of digital learning technologies.
