Our Energy and Resources practice is looking for a senior commercial and strategic advisor to join our growing advisory team in Sydney

What You Will Be Doing

• You will be working at the forefront of the resources sector, leading teams of consultants to have an impact on the market and shape decarbonisation strategy in Australia and beyond, helping clients reimagine their purpose as a force for good in the world.
• You will be part of a Senior Management Team, and put equal weight on growing presence in the market as a thought leader, supporting your team to thrive and getting a kick out of solving some of the trickiest commercial and strategic problems in the market.
• Advising clients on updating their existing business strategies to account for the emerging sustainability agenda
• Redesigning operating models across industry value chains
• Developing decarbonisation strategies for large corporate consumers – including renewable energy contracting, carbon offsetting strategies, new technology appraisal and an actionable implementation roadmap
• Helping businesses better measure, understand and manage their Scope 1-3 emissions under different future climate scenarios, to then develop appropriate decarbonisation strategies.
• Working on strategy for decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries – including commercial strategy, marginal carbon abatement cost curves and delivery plans

Your Skills And Experience

We recruit individuals at all levels based on merit. Some of the key sills we are looking for are:

• You will have deep heavy industry, metals or mining experience as well as a focus on sustainability.
• You are able to work with senior clients driving the transition to commercially optimise strategy, products and business models in dynamic market environments.
• You have experience of at least 8 years within the metals, mining or industrial decarbonisation sector, ideally gained within Australia. Demonstrated in a combination of deep industry expertise with a solid understanding of decarbonisation requirements.
• You can design and deploy sustainability / ESG strategies and roadmaps, with experience gained either in industry (for example, within internal strategy or commercial teams), or as a consultant to the metals, mining or resources industries. Knowledge of measurement and ing requirements and challenges – with regards to regulation and data are also attractive.
• You are confident in engaging directly with leadership teams within corporate strategy, risk, operations and trading functions to link market experience with detailed quantitative analysis and provide advice grounded in facts. Your stakeholder engagement/management skills will be exemplary.
• You can manage project teams collaboratively, across consulting staff and client employees to deliver actionable advice and support implementation of real change.
• You have an entrepreneurial mindset and passionate about being part of our culture and building a team, in a rapidly growing environment.
