Software Engineer Designer
Radbroke, Knutsford

As a Barclays Software Engineer Designer, you’ll be working in The Barclays Customer and Risk Mainframe team at Barclays Technology Centre Radbroke are looking for a Lead Software Engineer. The team will provide the bank with the means of managing a single view of the customer as Barclays UK wide enabled database holding information on Barclays customers and third parties that have a relationship with the UK group

What will you be doing?
• Actively contributing to the production of end-to-end system technical designs, undertaking technical impact assessment of the Customer and Risk applications

  • Supporting the software development for the Customer and Risk application across the development lifecycle
  • Supporting and providing input to the production of clear functional and non-functional requirements (e.g. capacity, availability, response times, etc.)
  • Understanding technical constraints of the live Customer and Risk application, support business clients in understanding any ‘requirement versus cost’ trade-offs
  • Maintaining end-to-end system design components, ensuring quality and integrity throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Helping support the production of end-to-end system technical designs that involve the Customer and Risk application, working closely with other internal and supplier teams
What we’re looking for:
• Extensive proven solution and design experience

  • High level of experience in IT Software development consisting of the following languages and technologies: COBOL, DB2, IMS DB/DC
  • Stored Procedures
  • Extensive proven experience of IBM Mainframe development
Skills that will help you in the role:
• BSc degree in relevant software engineering discipline, equivalent to UK 2nd class honours or extensive experience as a mainframe software engineer

  • Experience of z/OS Connect
  • Experience of leading-edge tools, techniques and services within Mainframe development

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations.
