Position Overview:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced VP of Sales – North America to join the Barbour team. ing to the President of Sales, North America, the VP of Sales will cover Men’s, Womenswear, Accessories & Footwear and will develop and implement the Global strategy for Barbour within the North American marketplace. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• In partnership with the President of Sales, develop and implement U.S. Sales strategy to deliver set the 5-year plan targets. Ensuring understanding and practical application of strategies across the Major Department store account base.
• Strategically cultivate and seek opportunities to expand business with existing Major accounts in line with our 5-year strategic plan, primarily through Full price sales & category growth; oversee development and maintain business relationships with our current customer base at the senior and buying level.
• Leading, objective setting, coaching and development of the sales team to deliver against business priorities.
• Establish and execute a comprehensive wholesale roadmap that aligns with the business strategy providing leadership and direction to the team to achieve growth.
• Lead and coach the sales team in the NY office.
• To be fully informed of innovative sales practices and retail market trends and to recommend improved ways of working to the business.
• Translate market insights, trends, and analysis across the US Marketplace to advance product development, marketing plans and merchandising, to accommodate the local nuances found within the market.
• Work closely with the Design Director to provide feedback to support the product development of ranges through structured account & product feedback at regular intervals.
• Provide strategic leadership, being the voice of the wholesale customer in leading product direction and assortment plans.
• Develop a close working relationship with the VP of marketing and team to help develop the brand and seek out new business opportunities. Fostering a joined-up approach to sell in and sell out strategies.
• Manage weekly confirmation meetings, setting clear objectives for the week to ensure order fulfilment is maximized.
• Drive in season sales, through analysis of sales and identifying and chasing sales opportunities.
• Maintain costs in line with P&L budgets, Customer Allowances and team T& E as key measures.
• Formulate Sales plans and product plans to support on a seasonal basis, ensuring full analysis of current business is the driver.
• Forecast product needs and Values to deliver sales plan throughout the sell in period.
• Travel extensively (4 x1 week Internationally) 4 weeks combined Nationally to support customer visits, trade shows and seasonal marketing activities.
• Manage the markdown calendar to ensure maximum sell through and profit metrics.

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 10-15 years’ experience in wholesale apparel sales with better Department stores
• Excellent analytical skills and an expertise in retail math
• Proven track record of developing high performing teams.
• Resilient, proactive, and determined
• Have a desire to own projects and exceed expectations, with the ability to find solutions.
• Extensive experience within wholesale market, specifically in a Menswear or Womenswear
• Capacity additional experience in Accessories and Footwear a plus.
• Strategic planning and budget planning skills
• Sales forecasting and range planning
• Execution of product and account channel distribution segmentation
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities
• Information Technology including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet, PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal and written Communication skills to build strong relationships internally and externally.
• Excellent ability to undertake presentations at individual and group level.
• Negotiation and objection handling skills
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to challenge conventional methodology and deliver new ways of working.

Additional Information:

• Extensive travel (x 4 per year x1 week Internationally) 4 weeks combined Nationally to support customer visits, trade shows and seasonal marketing activities.
