Markets, Banking and Resolution (MB&R) is one of four Deputy Governorships in the Bank and plays a critical role in the Bank’s mission to promote monetary policy and financial stability. It leads our sterling market operations, runs the UK’s high value payments system, manages its foreign exchange reserves, and acts as the ‘bank’ within the Bank of England. It uses its presence, expertise and influence in financial markets to advise and shape the Bank’s policy decisions and priorities. MB&R is also home to the FinTech Hub, preparing the Bank for developments in financial technology. It is an operationally diverse and outward facing area in which to work.
Departmental Overview
The MB&R Chief Operating Office Division (COOD) is central to the area. With around 65 staff, it works to devise and implement the operational strategy of the area and takes the lead on all cross-divisional issues relating to: operational resilience; change delivery; business planning; oversight, challenge and mitigation of operational risk, people strategy and promoting diversity and inclusion. We engage with and support c 800 staff within the Deputy Governorship with the aim of delivering sustainable organisational performance, and work very closely with colleagues in Central Services.
Job Description
We are looking for a junior analyst. You will be an important part of two diverse teams – one, a small team of HR/Diversity and Inclusion specialists (People Strategy), the other, a broader team covering finance and business administration (Business Management), around 12 people in total. The responsibilities of these teams range from MB&R’s D&I strategy, training and talent management, its budget and its funding through to customer charges and invoicing.
The role holder will make an important contribution in supporting the HR, D&I and financial accounting/budget data, which will be needed as our work expands to cover an increase in staffing to deliver Strategic Priority 1 (SP1). You’ll spend half your time with the People Strategy team and the other half of your time with the Business Management team. The role could therefore be successfully undertaken by one person working full-time, or by those working part-time as two separate roles or as a job share (depending on personal preferences). There will be scope to develop further skills across HR, Finance or Data and Analytics (D&A) areas, depending on the jobholder’s preferences, and specific deliverables will be allocated relevant to your experience level. The role offers a strong grounding in areas that would be highly transferable within the Bank and externally, and opportunities to develop through our MB&R Emerging Talent Programme, training and apprenticeships.
