Overview of the Role:
The Bank of America has an exciting opportunity at our Bromley location. As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. You will ensure that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. You will be familiar with development and testing practices of the bank. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. You will participate and guide the team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. In the role you will perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
You will use codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); Analyses test reports, identifies any test issues/errors; Triages the underlying cause. Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.
Role Description:
We are looking for a senior, experienced application developer to design, develop & support trading system applications for Mortgages LOB. The candidate will work in an agile team for hands on application development using Python and SQL. Candidate should have hands on design experience of Trading and/ or Risk system services, software development experience of at least 7+ years. Experience of Object-Oriented Database is desirable. Prior experience with BofA Quartz platform highly desirable as majority of the work will be on that. However, for the right candidate, lack of Quartz experience is not a bar. Must be able to quickly get up to speed on new technology. Good communication skills are essential and should be a self-learner. Good understanding of Fixed Income Products and trading/life-cycle management is highly desired. This position will be in EMEA. Prior experience working with Quants, Market Risk, Counterparty Risk, Finance, and Traders is desirable. Understanding of Mortgages/ Securitized Products, and or Loans would be beneficial but not mandatory.
The Team:
The global Mortgages Tech team is spread across EMEA, North America and Asia office and works collaboratively to support FICC Trading by supporting Global Mortgages & Securitized Products Trade Booking & Risk systems. Here in EMEA, the team is based in London, Dublin & recently expanding in Bromley. The team covers Mortgages, CDO/CLO and Munis technology deliveries. Technology-wise the team is heavily focused on the bank’s Quartz platform, with coding principally in Python and good exposure to industry leading market apps like Intex and Bloomberg for Mortgages Trading & Risk Analysis.
Core Skills
Python/ C++, SQL, Object Oriented Programming, Agile, Scrum Master, Fixed Income knowledge.
Market Risk experience, Structured Credit Products like Mortgages/ CLOs.
