Position Summary

Reporting to the Production Manager, the incumbent is responsible for working within all areas of the Finishing department including the tasks of glazing, spraying and staining to ensure that high quality finishes are produced and deadlines are met.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Responsible for spraying, staining and glazing products in the finishing department, using standard procedures and ensuring a high-quality product.

2. Maintain a record of all products coming in and going out of the finishing department and report any discrepancies.

3. Follow all Health & Safety policies and initiatives for the finishing department including maintaining a clean and safe working environment, ensuring all safety expectations and policies and procedures are followed.

4. Once finished products have dried, load onto racks.

5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

1. Good oral communication is required. Regular communication takes place with internal contacts that requires the exchange of routine, factual information and diplomacy so as to develop and maintain relationships to enhance work flow and work quality.

2. Ability to follow clear directions and procedures and deal with problems that are routine and somewhat repetitive in nature.

3. Previous experience within the industry would be an asset.

4. Fundamental knowledge of industry concepts, practices and procedures and the ability to apply these in varied situations is required.

5. Ability to perform basic level administrative preparation.

6. Basic analytical reasoning skills are required to identify any required variations to procedures that need to take place.

7. Intermediate technical skills required to obtain an understanding of all tasks within the finishing department and to develop knowledge of materials or processes.

8. Basic numeric/mathematical skills are required.

Mental Effort

· Mental effort required to routine activities that require regular attention and manual coordination and dexterity.

· Activities are constant and repetitive requiring the need to be at the workstation except for breaks.

Physical Effort

· Physical effort required for working in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, performing repetitive tasks. A typical day consists of a combination of extended standing, walking, bending, pulling and pushing with no sitting.

· Often lifting up to 20 pounds is required.

Working Conditions

· Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment and throughout a plant and warehouse with hazards that are identified and assessed.

Type of Supervision Received

Reports directly to the Production Manager. The Finisher receives general direction and uses existing practices as guidelines to determine specific work methods, but they carry out their work and activities independently. A manager/supervisor is available to resolve any problems when required.

Type of Supervision and/or Assistance Given

The Finisher is not responsible for the supervision of other employees

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.00-$22.00 per hour
