The role

The difference our new Senior Buyer will make
As a Procurement Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary.
Hinkley Point C (HPC), is the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations designed to support the UK’s ambition to reach net-zero by 2050. In addition to being one of Britain’s most powerful actions to fight climate change, it’s the biggest construction project in Europe.

Cavendish Nuclear are a member of the MEH Alliance working across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main MEH, cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s 2,500 rooms.

Day to day, you’ll be responsible for the procurement, administration and close out of all Partner supply/ subcontracts across the MEHA partner delivery. You will reassure the compliance with procurement and nuclear safety process. You’ll lead critical partner procurement such as Weld Consumable, Hydrostatic Testing. Also, as a Procurement Manager you will be a key member MEH Partner Procurement Team responsible for raising subcontracts in accordance with NNB governance requirements to meet NNB HPC Project and business objectives.

Essential experience

• Degree in relevant discipline (or equivalent).
• Can achieve security clearance (BPSS or higher).
• Experience with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function is essential.
• Good understanding of the UK regulatory framework.
• A positive ‘can do’ mentality
• Demonstrates strong communication skills, liaising effectively with peers, other functions, delivery partner and client teams
