Software Test Engineer

Job Description

The AWI engineering team is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and providing production support for aviation-related systems. Software Test Engineers design, curate, and run test scenarios to validate features in the AWI application environment. The work environment includes a test lab and cannot be performed remotely.

Primary Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

• Application testing to verify software features meet customer requirements.
• Designing and Implementing test scenarios to validate software functionality.
• Provide feedback to Development team for software issues requiring correction.
• Reconfigure physical lab hardware to meet testing needs for each test scenario.
• Develop scripts for test scenarios for data validation.
• Help troubleshoot issues discovered for development team to correct.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with troubleshooting problems to resolution
• Experience working in a team setting
• Excellent written and verbal communications
• Experience with basic system networking
• Able to multitask and switch between multiple test systems
• Intermediate Office skills (e.g., Word tables and formatting, Excel formulas)
• Experience with Windows and Linux-based operating systems
• Ability to pass a Federal Background check for security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with testing Java applications
• Experience with network troubleshooting and resolution
• Experience with test automation applications
• Experience with scripting language(s) (e.g., PowerShell, Visual Basic Script, JavaScript, Jython/Python, Bash, Batch)
