About this opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven Financial Analyst to join our Finance team in Sydney on a 12 month parental-leave contract. Reporting to the Group Accountant Manager, this position will be responsible for the month end close process which includes booking of revenue/expense, balance sheet reconciliation and the settlement of inter-company cost allocations. In addition, this role will also provide support to tax and statutory reporting obligations.

How do you exceed our expectations?

The ideal candidate will have highly developed problem solving and data analytic skills, with a high level of attention to detail. They will have sound oral and written communication skills and a strong commitment to teamwork. In addition, they will also have the following:

Relevant tertiary degree and relevant post-graduate qualification (or studying towards post graduate qualification e.g. ACA, CPA);

1-2 years experience in monthly financial close activities within complex corporate and / or top tier CA accounting firm;

Thorough understanding of accounting standards, balance sheet substantiation and effective reconciliations;

Robust knowledge of and the ability to implement strong internal controls and manage an effective internal control environment;

Experience in financial services, ideally within financial planning, wealth management or superannuation (desired);

Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills;

Demonstrated familiarity with accounting operations and financial processes and systems; and

Results oriented, with the ability to identify key actionable items from complex problems.
