Aware Services Hiring for Assistant Accountant Job at Sydney Full Time

Aware is an Australian IT Consulting company in a growth phase, and we are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join our team. We are looking for a pro-active, detail oriented Finance person with strong analytical skills to support the Head of Finance with the day-to-day accounting of a 120+ person business.

This role would suit a degree qualified person with some professional accounting experience, looking for a role that will grow into a management accountant over the next 1-2 years as Aware grows.

Key Accountabilities:

• Accounts Receivable: Reconciling timesheets in preparation for invoicing, drafting and issuing invoices, receipting, collection and reconciliation of accounts receivable and liaising with customers to resolve overdue accounts.
• Accounts Payable: Entry of supplier invoices, payments, supplier account reconciliations, liaise with suppliers to resolve issues.
• Performing bank reconciliations
• Monthly Payroll and reimbursing employee expenses for permanent and contract staff
• Assisting with BAS, Payroll tax and other statutory calculations
• Month-end: Assist with accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other journals. Assist in preparing balance sheet reconciliations and ensure that all differences are investigated and resolved in a timely manner
• Year-end: Assisting with prepare year-end accounts for external accountants and assisting with annual budget preparation.

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Degree/diploma in Accounting or similar
• Some experience in a junior or assistant accounting role or similar
• Experience in accounting software package (Xero is desirable)
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint etc)
• The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience
• Excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally
• The ability to accomplish objectives effectively within time frame given and carry out duties in an efficient and timely manner
