Your role

Australian Unity is excited and proud to be partnering with Beyond Blue to deliver their support services to all Australians in need. We’re looking for experienced Mental Health Counsellors to join our community-based team and make a difference every day.

This is a virtual telephone & online health service requiring you to work from home. Applications will be considered for full-time fixed-term contracts (for 3 years) for day shifts through the week. All applicants will be required to work across a rotating roster as part of this role.

About you

You’ll be working from home supporting a 24/7 omnichannel brief counselling and advice service. You will deliver counselling services to anyone who feels the need to reach out for support, as well as being a clinical escalation for Coaches and may provide clinical supervision. In this role, you will work closely with fellow Counsellors, direct Team leader and Coaches around day-today service delivery.

Your expertise and qualifications will include:

• You are a passionate, experienced counsellor and care about making a difference to people’s lives just as much as we do.
• You have a tertiary degree and/or masters in one of the following: Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Mental Health Nursing, Welfare OR:
• Tertiary degree in unrelated field plus Graduate Diploma in Counselling from ACAP (2-year Course) or accreditation from relevant colleges or association.

• You have minimum 2-years’ experience in counselling post relevant qualification.
• You are self-motivated and tech savvy with strong administration and time management skills.
• You are friendly, open and can easily build trust with people in their environment.
• You are currently or are willing to obtain and maintain a Professional registration with either ACA, AASW, APS, AHPRA or PACFA
• Working with children checks are required

Technology Requirements

As this is a phone-based telephone service there are minimum setup requirements for you to adequately perform in this role including:

• Private room/space which can be used for your home office set up
• A reliable internet connection

• You have strong IT skills and proficiency in telephony-based systems where you are comfortable navigating software, typing and talking at the same time.

To support you with your working from home set up we will provide you with a company PCs / laptops, headset and additional financial support for any office equipment required to support you in your role.
