About our Opportunity

The Junior Accountant is responsible for contributing to the successful client centric management of Taxation Services at Australian Unity Trustees. This role will be responsible for assisting the Senior Accountant and Accounting Manager, ACT with the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns and business activity statements for a range of entities including individuals, companies, and Self-Managed Superannuation Funds.

What you will do

• Support the Senior Accountants and Accounting Manager, NSW & ACT to prepare income tax returns, Financial Accounts, Business Activity statements
• Develop a solid understanding of fundamental accounting and taxation principles, working towards being able to interpret client data and financial information as presented
• Work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful client outcomes
• Update all client information received in a timely, accurate manner
• Develop positive relationships with different areas of the Trustees business and the Tax & Finance team
• Represent the business in a professional manner in liaising with clients as well as different areas of the Trustees business and the Tax & Finance team
• Work with Business Improvement Manager to enhance existing processes and materials
• Maintain knowledge and awareness of existing legislation, current developments and ATO interpretation to ensure compliance

What we are looking for

• Bachelor of Business, Commerce, Finance or equivalent, coupled with a knowledge of basic financial concepts
• 1-2 years of relevant work experience would be highly regarded
• MS Office Professional Suite of Software
• Strong communication skills
• High attention to detail with an ability to work to deadline and manage multiple priorities
