Software Development & Engineering

• Software engineering: Java, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, XML, HTML, web applications, object-oriented analysis and design, rapid prototyping, algorithm development

• Cloud/container infrastructure design for high-availability enterprise information applications, including continuous deployment from Git managed code in OpenStack, AWS and Azure environments. Working knowledge of Containers/Kubernetes deployments.

Multimedia & Publishing Services

• Audio Visual Specialists scoping, designing, installing, and testing complex audio visual systems across the organisation and across the country.
• Graphic Design Specialists liaising with stakeholders from across the organisation to provide high-level graphic design services using Adobe Design Suite software.
• Multimedia Specialists using editing and publication development software to develop audio and visual productions and to assist with the development of multimedia learning presentations across ASD.
• Content Developers and Editors providing high-quality structural editing, copyediting and proofreading to ensure ASD’s written communications are professionally presented, can be clearly interpreted, are accurate, grammatically correct, and comply with accessibility legislative requirements.
• ICT Word Template Development Specialists creating and maintaining corporate Word templates using VBA and XML coding in compliance with ASD and Commonwealth documentation and branding standards, while maintaining visual consistency and functionality across ASD’s corporate documents.
• Printing Officers using complex and computer-driven, industrial-scale printers and associated equipment to conduct publishing, printing and reprographic tasks and activities in accordance with ASD standards.
• Web design and web content authoring, editing, publishing and review as well as web service life-cycle management.

ICT Customer Support Officers

• Liaise with a diverse range of personnel across the Intelligence Community to provide support, respond to customer requests and provide timely advice and information.
• Use application management software and tools to manage ICT requests and incidents.
• Identify automation that improves the end user experience.
• Provide 1st level incident response, identify workarounds and resolve problems.
• Analyse data, assess business workflows and procedures and communicate recommendations to management for process improvement.
• Manage team roles and activities for service management processes and functions.

Data Science, Analytics & Engineering

• Develop new and innovative data analytics.
• Provide support for security operations functions and database technologies such as SQL, Maria DB and PostgreQSL.
• Determine questions that need to be answered by developing hypotheses, gathering, organising and cleaning raw data.
• Apply algorithms in order to explore, analyse and interpret patterns in the data.

Systems Administrators

• Design, manage, integrate and ensure system integrity and performance tuning and monitoring across data processing, collaboration and communication applications including Splunk, ELK, Microsoft SCSM, SharePoint and the Atlassian suite.
• Perform routing installation, patching, upgrading and uninstallation of operating systems and application software.
• Contribute to the design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, support, security, maintenance or enhancement of ASD’s communication and processing systems.
• Use experience in change management to maintain the continuity of capability delivered by IT operations and business functions.
• Provide Automated Configuration Management activities using Puppet, Salt, Ansible Azure Devops, Kubenetes and/or container management tools.
• Design, manage and integrate desktop physical and virtual systems.
• Design, deploy and support Windows desktop solutions on physical, and, virtual VMWare and Citrix platforms.
• Solve issues for unpredictable problems and establish operating policies, procedures and documentation.
