The Role

EL1 Project Manager / Project Support

• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track, and in line with the broader cloud programme.
• Provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making.
• Lead and monitor the project’s delivery of capability through the setting of both short term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term deliverables. You will be responsible for developing and managing the implementation of the project plan.
• Communicate the project status clearly, accurately with integrity and transparency to a senior audience.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure collective understanding
• Contribute to the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures

EL2 Project / Program Manager

• Experience managing a team of subject matter experts and coordinating externally to deliver ICT capability projects / programs
• Working knowledge of contemporary ICT such as networking, virtualisation, software systems
• Well-developed communication skills and ability to produce professional planning and reporting artefacts Experience with establishing appropriate governance, reporting, procurement and financial management

EL2 Project Technical Lead

• Experience providing technical knowledge and leading other subject matter experts in delivering ICT capability projects
• Expert knowledge of contemporary ICT such as operating environments, networking (particularly gateway experience), virtualisation, It security, software systems
• Well-developed communication skills and ability to produce professional design and reporting artefacts

EL2 Program Manager

• Define the programme’s governance arrangements ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme – focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the programme, and outwardly on its coherence interfacing with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards.
• Evaluates project and/or programme performance and recommends changes where necessary. Contribute to reviews and audits of project and programme management to ensure conformance to standards.
• Monitor the Program’s delivery of capability, specifically through the scoping, development and issue of a Program benefits realisation plan and map.
• Initiate extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that the overall program of work is on track, and in line with the broader organisational goals.

About our Team

Cloud Branch

Cloud Branch is leading the program to provide hyper-scale cloud services for ASD working alongside highly skilled staff from multiple agencies and strategic partners to deliver new cloud capabilities. Cloud branch is working, in partnership with industry, to design, deliver and accredit a cloud platform and is also focused on supporting the migration of existing on-premises workloads, the development of new capabilities on the cloud to support ASD’s mission and building a sustainable operating model to manage the platform on an ongoing basis.

Technology Services (TS) Branch

TS Branch supports a range of ICT Services and a rapidly expanding ICT footprint within Australia in support of the ASD mission and the Australian Defence Force. Services provided include supporting the corporate ICT desktop and video teleconferencing environments, managing the standard operating environment (SOE), providing remote access capabilities, software deployment, web development, database support, publishing and printing, service desk, service transformation and 24/7 network monitoring.

The ICT Architecture and Corporate and Capability Systems Program Office Branch (IACCSPO)

The IACCSPO Branch operates at the Enterprise Technology Division capability delivery arm. The Branch covers a range of activities from designing and implementing Enterprise Architectures, delivering large complex projects across other agencies and Defence domains, and integrating complex systems into new generation military platforms. The IACCSPO also supports smaller packages of work to support the operations of our IT systems for ASD and our partner organisations. A demonstrated knowledge of applying a broad range of project and program skills in wider Defence domains is highly regarded but not essential.

The Program Manager role will provide guidance to the program team on a daily basis in a program management office support function as well including developing business cases, program content and plans to support the Program’s long-term goals.

The Project Manager role will involve identifying dependencies, creating a project delivery plan, identifying an integration roadmap and governing the delivery phases. The successful applicant will be able to think critically and utilise their excellent problem-solving skills, as well as undertake negotiations, delegate effectively, and make timely decisions.
