Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) Hiring for Multiple Roles – Finance Team Job at Australia Full Time

The Finance Team reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for the Commission’s budget, management accounting, financial accounting and reporting, financial operations, finance business partnering, and financial governance.

The Finance Team is recruiting to support the design and implementation of resource management solutions which enable delivery of the Commission’s priorities. These priorities currently include, for example, continued APS reform, establishment of the APS Academy, set up of regional APS Academy Campuses, development of an APS Exhibition at the Museum of Australian Democracy, and redesign of the APS Employee Database.

The Finance Team is also undertaking a program of financial systems and process enhancements to increase efficiency, strengthen controls, continue to improve management information, and prepare for GovERP.

Ongoing, non-ongoing, temporary transfers and secondment opportunities will be considered as needed.

About the Roles

Our priority is to attract candidates with a flexible financial skillset who can support cohesive service delivery across enabling functions (finance, governance, people, ICT, procurement and property).

To be successful, applicants will have demonstrated experience related to the responsibilities for the relevant classification set out under ‘Our Ideal Candidate’ and in applying the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) along with related rules and guidance.

The preferred candidates will also demonstrate ability to (at a level appropriate for the relevant classification):

• Take individual accountability for effective and timely delivery of assigned priorities;
• Be adaptable and apply initiative to support priorities across finance and other enabling functions;
• Present influential financial analysis and advice to team members, other staff and decision-makers;
• Partner with stakeholders to find practical solutions to complex challenges and to apply Commonwealth rules; and
• Identify, monitor and control financial risks, including driving better practices and respectfully challenging advice or behaviours that pose risks to delivery or compliance.
