Digital Education Project Officer

Reporting to the Head of Education, you will be responsible for the Museum’s online education products and programs for the Education section. It will create, develop and maintain all of the Museum’s digital education programs/products for existing school audiences while seeking and engaging new ones on a national scale.

This position will work on the development of vibrant, inclusive and engaging digital content and products for varied education audiences, including K-Y12, teachers, with a focus on the Australian curriculum. This position will create and deliver virtual excursions, web conferences and other ‘live’ online experiences. This position is responsible for digital projects and product development such as online games, podcasts, VR, static and interactive digital resources to engage and enthral students of all ages. This position will liaise with the Digital and Insight section to manage education resources on Museum’s website, social media and other digital platforms. This position will similarly collaborate with all sections of the museum to find, package and share the incredible content and stories found within the Museum’s research and collections.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

• Develop high-quality digital education programs to meet the Museum’s national learning outreach objectives.
• Identify and implement new and innovative web-based educational solutions based on curriculum to engage diverse range of audiences.
• Develop digital programs for students to extend the Museum’s education outreach to the broadest feasible national audience to achieve digital engagement targets.
• Develop coordinate and deliver virtual excursions, web conferences and other ‘live’ online experiences for students.
• Work with the Digital and Insights team to select appropriate tools, technologies and platforms for online programs based on ongoing best practise in the wider digital education sector.
• Apply a strategic approach to development that enables potential scaling of programs/products and efficient adaption of outputs for different audiences.
• Stay up-to-date with technology trends in the wider digital education sector and develop programs that harness these tools.
• Regularly evaluate program outcomes and pursue effectiveness through continuous improvement.
• Lead and implement digital projects and product development for the Education section including but not limited to online games, teacher resources and Virtual Reality experiences.
• Evaluate third-party digital agencies and liaise with them where required to implement various digital programs.
• Produce and manage education content across all Museum’s online platforms including website, social media in liaison with the Digital and Insight and Marketing sections.
• Provide high level advice on best practise in digital delivery and educational technologies to the Head of Education and other stakeholders.
• Identify, report and manage risks across areas of responsibility.
• Maintain awareness of budgets and resources relevant to area of work, ensure effective use of resources, value for money and compliance with financial instructions.
• Seek and apply for external funding opportunities that create quality online learning experiences for students across the country.
• Work efficiently and effectively with internal museum stakeholders in the development of digital content and programs.

Selection Criteria:

• A degree or relevant experience working in education and/or digital education resource development.
• Demonstrated experience managing digital education resource development, ideally for a cultural institution or similar organisation.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a range of high quality, innovative and effective programs for K-Y12 students.
• Experience in the design, development of online/e-learning material, audio-visual materials.
• Experience working with digital tools and resources and knowledge of the current developments in online learning.
• Comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of current school curriculum and teaching conditions.
• Strong written communication skills. Excellent verbal communication and program delivery skills, adaptable to a range of audiences.
• Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team and collaborate across teams to achieve organisational goals
• Demonstrated project management skills with a proven record of successfully managing all aspects of projects through to completion, in accordance to agreed standards and timeframes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and delivering work of high standard with good attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work in dynamic work environment.

Selection for this position will be made on the basis of relative merit which will be assessed against each item of the selection criteria.
