The Role
As a technical specialist in the RAN Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC) you will apply and develop your engineering/scientific knowledge to analyse and evaluate complex systems in the field of acoustic and magnetic signatures.

You will work as part of a small team to analyse ship signatures in order to advance warfighting effectiveness, provide assurance of our warfighting capability and to drive improvements through identifying gaps and opportunities.

The role will provides a diversity of work opportunities including analysis of real time data, operation of data acquisition systems, support of military exercises and collaboration with Navy personnel, academia and industry.

In this specialised field we don’t anticipate that you will start as a subject matter expert so we commit to supporting you to develop and enhance your skills, including training on naval systems, test, evaluation and data exploitation.

About our Team
The MWC mission is to optimise and improve the warfighting effectiveness and lethality of Australia’s maritime capability. This is achieved through the delivery of highly effective warfare products that support both the Fleet Commander and the Head of Navy Capability in the context of risk based decision making.

The teams you will be working in directly support this mission through test and evaluation activities including:

• Minimisation of platform vulnerability through effective signature management.
• Maximising warfighting effectiveness through measurement and analysis.
• Use and distribution of data as the source of truth to inform decision making

You will be required to undertake occasional work interstate and in remote locations, on land and at sea, and may be required to travel overseas.

The successful candidate will have engineering or scientific qualifications at Diploma level or higher with practical experience and good communication skills. Disciplines that are appropriate to these positions include:
