• The videographer is responsible for production of videos, photography and image management, to engage a wide range of audiences.
  
• Our video production team provide professional grade services to stakeholders within the department and for our portfolio ministers.
  
• The role provides production advice and uses the tools, technologies and systems needed to deliver creative digital messaging and innovative communications solutions.

Who we are
The Communication and Media Branch delivers internal and corporate communication and strategic communication activities in support of the department and our ministers, for the benefit of the Australian community. This includes managing the department’s social media strategy and social media presence, media support services across the department and for our ministers’ offices, production services including graphic design and branding, Web publishing for external-facing departmental websites, and the development of campaign and non-campaign materials.

The Social Media and Production Section is the main creative team for the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. Within our section, we maintain a professional grade video production service offering for the use of our department and portfolio ministers. The video production team works very closely with colleagues in the communication and media sections to support the message and story of the government and department.

The Job
The duties include:

• managing the videography and photography function, and staying on top of emerging trends
• assisting with managing the department’s video archive and image library, and responding to imaging requests
• delivering high quality video and image products that engage audiences and deliver on the client’s brief
• using up-to-date video camera equipment, operating a DSLR camera for photography, and editing video on non-linear editing software
• working as part of the team responsible for the management of the department’s video streaming services including Viostream and YouTube
• providing specialist advice to a range of stakeholders
• maintaining strong and cooperative relationships with clients, colleagues, ministerial offices and stakeholders
• supporting the delivery of departmental events, including PA setup and filming/photography as required
• maintaining accurate records, analysis and reporting on the activities of the function.

What we are looking for
Knowledge and experience

• Relevant experience in video production or photography.
• Strong video production and photography skills.
• Knowledge of contemporary videography and image management processes and practices.
• Experience in a government agency and/or news media role.
• Professional level of knowledge in video production, photography and editing software.
