Who we are
The Digital Enabling Services Branch is primarily responsible for enabling the department to deliver outcomes through the efficient and effective use of contemporary and emerging information systems and communications services and technologies. Branch functions include the delivery of strategic projects, management and administration of the department’s information and data management, ICT contract management and procurement, financial management and reporting for ISD, records management policies, the management of enterprise ICT systems which includes HR, data management, web content management, records management and the enterprise data warehouse. The branch actively engages with business areas and the ICT industry to enable the department’s realisation of its strategic plan outcomes and staff work collaboratively to enable end-to-end services and solutions that are consistent across the organisation and deliver benefits to the department and our clients.

The Financial Management and Reporting team combines technical expertise with in-depth business insights gained from partnering with the DSD line areas to provide complete business solutions. The team works closely with the DSD Finance Business Partner team in the Corporate and Enabling Group to provide the DSD with high quality, timely and meaningful financial information to support them in delivering their business outcomes.

The Job
Working closely with the Assistant Director and the Financial Management and Reporting team, the Finance Officer will support the team to ensure the business is provided with meaningful insight and analysis to facilitate decisions.

Responsibilities include:

• preparing monthly financial journals
• assisting with general advice on a broad range of financial and accounting matters
• providing assistance in producing monthly reports including analysis and advice on the current and planned financial performance and position of the division
• providing support and assistance to DSD Cost Centre Managers and Project Managers regarding development of their internal budgets
• providing assistance in updating forecasts on a monthly basis to inform management of funding issues by highlighting pressures or savings
• other ad hoc duties as requested.

• experience in an accounting or finance area
• knowledge with SAP and TechOne or similar FMIS and reporting tools
• a working knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth financial framework will be highly regarded
• knowledge in Power B1 will be highly regarded.

• highly developed IT skills including intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel skills
