Austin Community College seeks a Payroll Specialist to provide payroll processing and editing services. The future incumbent will report to the Payroll Manager and be responsible for the following:
1) Processes and edits payroll runs and provides assistance to the Manager, Payroll Services, and other members of the team.
2) Ensures special payments are included in payroll runs as needed.
3) Responds to inquiries, conducts payroll research, and provides information.
4) Composes and distributes applicant correspondence and other written documents and/or reports.
5) Updates / clears tax information.
6) Gathers information and reviews it for accuracy.
7) Generates child support payments and ensures they are remitted to the correct entities.
8) Provides support for the supplemental check request and void/lost checks processes.
9) Verifies and processes full-time and adjunct faculty overload payments; Continuing Education instructor salary payments.
10) Calculates and processes prorated salaries for Continuing Education instructors and full-time and adjunct faculty.
Knowledge

* Payroll processing and editing procedures, principles, and practices.
* Federal and state regulations including taxing and other related payroll rules.

* Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Required Work Experience
* One year related work experience.
Preferred Work Experience
* Two years related work experience.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Required Education ​
* High school diploma or educational equivalent.
Physical Requirements ​
* Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
* Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
* Occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.
