Salary: $2,067.20 – $3,038.40 Bi-Weekly

Under general supervision of the Supervisor, Operations, this position provides field meter reading throughout the various communities serviced by ATCO Electric Yukon.

What You Get to Do:

• Arranges for safe access to customers’ premises either through prior customer interaction or reading meters outside and ensures customers properties are properly secured after reading

• Checks and reports the general condition of service (meter and its related area) including energy diversion, theft, suspicious installations, damaged meters, missing and broken seals, and verifying meter numbers, etc.

• Works with data capture system including loading and downloading of files and data where applicable

• Compares consumption of previous periods and confirming accuracy of reads through billing clerk, comparing meter number, resealing of all demand meters after reading and resetting

• Responds to customer inquiries as they arise to ensure they are dealt with in a timely manner. Assists in route and sequencing new customers

• Manages access to customer property by appropriate use of customer keys and ensures premises are left secured.

• Performs safety audits and promotes safe work practices

• Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions

• Operates and maintains company vehicles and equipment

• Participates in safety meetings

• Provides daily work plans and competes job safety analysis

• Promotes public safety awareness within the communities

• Exercises good environmental practices

• Assists in accident investigations as required

• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

• High school diploma

• A valid Operator’s license for the vehicles to be operated

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to deal effectively with customers and maintain good customer relations

• Effective organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work

• Proven ability to work independently and think logically to evaluate situations and solve problems

• Understanding of basic electricity and hazards to be able to become a Utility Worker

Whitehorse is a designated community and a comprehensive northern benefit package will be provided, including;

• An additional 5% of base salary (northern allowance)

• An additional $600 a month (northern allowance)

• Additional 5 days vacation for North of 60 positions
