Established over 30 years, this company is recognised as a market leader within its respective field and provides sophisticated and cutting-edge engineered and manufactured products to a wide variety of clients.

As part of a group generating more than $800m in annual sales, this business unit has recently transformed its organisation and is now looking for a Plant Manager to lead all manufacturing and production operations at their plant in Schiedam, Netherlands. You will have full autonomy to drive operational improvements across the plant from a strategic operational perspective, with a hands-on approach.

As such, we are keen to recruit an experienced Plant Manager with a manufacturing or production background within the engineering market sector.

The role of the Plant Manager will be as follows:

• Manage day to day operations to ensure manufacturing KPIs are achieved
• Manage and lead a team of 5 direct reports with a total of 50 staff across the site
• Leading all production activities related to production, planning, quality, environmental, H&S, engineering support, manufacturing, operations, logistics, CapEx and facilities management
• Recruitment, 121s, performance management, objective setting and employee engagement
• Production routing and planning – planning new and existing orders on the shop floor with high variation and high mix batch manufacturing
• Improve on operational KPIs – OTD (on-time delivery), cost of poor quality, safety/LTA
• Value stream analysis and to outline ways in improving operational capacity
• Review operational costs, reduce cost and outline methods to increase output and profitability
• Resource planning, effective labour planning and headcount budgeting
• Outline cost savings and lean improvements that will deliver YOY improvements
• Promoting a continuous improvement culture across the site and championing all H&S initiatives

The ideal Plant Manager will have a combination of the following:

• Plant Manager, Plant Director, Operations Director or General Manager type background
• A suitable qualification in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering or metalworking is preferred
• Must have worked in a manufacturing/production background and experienced in leading production teams
• Expert in Lean, Six Sigma and H&S
• The ideal applicant will have a track record of working for an SME which is part of an international, US or PLC listed business
