Position Overview

The Director of eCommerce is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and driving the technology strategy, implementation, and continues improvement of the e-commerce and internal facing order entry technology platforms. This role entails managing a team of technology professionals and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive the growth and success of the organization’s e-commerce operations. The Director of E-commerce Technology will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s digital retail strategy and ensuring a seamless, secure, and high-performance e-commerce experience for customers.

Essential Functions, Duties & Accountabilities

E-commerce Product Strategy and Planning:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce technology strategy aligned with the organization’s overall business goals.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance the e-commerce platform’s capabilities and competitiveness.
• Direct e-commerce roadmap, key project parameters, where applicable, for new features, including timeline, scope, risks, quality, testing, and launch for all e-commerce related projects.
• Evaluate new and elevate existing provider partnerships to deliver self-serve, intuitive, intelligent, data-rich technology that engages and convert across the user journey.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to create cutting edge, intuitive, user-friendly, and frictionless e-commerce experiences.
• Work closely with the business leaders to evaluate requirements, prioritize, develop estimates, and build consensus with cross-functional teams to deliver capabilities.

E-commerce Product Platform Management:

• Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and marketing teams to enhance the user experience and optimize the conversion funnel. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to site performance, customer behavior, and revenue generation.
• Oversee the development and customization of the e-commerce platform, ensuring it meets business requirements, supports a seamless customer experience and ensures scalability, reliability, and security.
• Ensure the e-commerce platform adheres to industry best practices and security standards. Implement measures to protect customer data, prevent fraud, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations.
• Coordinate with internal and external development teams to ensure timely and successful implementation of new features, enhancements, and integrations.
• Collaborate with members of the IT team, external vendors, and partners to maintain and optimize the platform’s performance.
• Stay up to date with the latest e-commerce technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
• Identify potential risks and issues related to e-commerce technology operations and implement mitigation strategies to ensure a stable and reliable e-commerce platform.

Performance Monitoring Analytics and ing:

• Utilize data analytics to gain insights into customer behavior, sales patterns, and overall e-commerce performance. Use these insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvements.
• Regularly on e-commerce platform performance to senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Develop and manage the e-commerce technology budget, allocating resources effectively to meet project timelines and business objectives.
• Lead and mentor a team of e-commerce technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Provide guidance, feedback, and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate closely with marketing, operations, finance, and customer service teams to ensure alignment and integration of e-commerce platform and strategy initiatives.
• Collaborate with HR and hiring managers as needed to recruit, onboard, and train new team members.
• Supervise and develop a staff of 5-7 direct s, including establishing and documenting goals and objectives, and performance management.

• Serve as a member of the Information Technology team and support others as necessary.
• Maintain flexibility in work schedule to meet business needs.
• Actively and positively contribute to the overall success of the company through regular contributions to the general management of the company.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience and Skills

• 7+ years of experience in software product ownership and management, preferably in e-commerce applications.
• Strong knowledge of e-commerce platforms, technologies, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Proven success in effectively managing multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver actionable digital technology solutions
• Experience managing concurrent projects; adeptness in prioritization and resource allocation amid evolving conditions.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Travel

Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required, approximately < 10%.
