Job Overview:

Responsible for identifying and securing donors interested including AVH in their charitable estate plans. Developing and managing a recognition society for donors who have included AVH in their estate. Cultivate relationships with area estate planning attorneys and wealth managers.

Primary Scope of Responsibilities:

• Maintain a portfolio of existing bequest intention and planned gift donors, stewarding that group annually via mail, event invitations, and face-to-face visits.
• Primary prospect manager for a portfolio of prospective donors (typically giving under $10K, giving annually, and consistently). Develop these relationships to express appreciation for their ongoing support, explore their interest in AVH, and determine if they would be interested in including AVH in their estate plans.
• In conjunction with CDO, set performance metrics annually (i.e. # of visits; # of new bequest intentions identified).
• Follow up with any donor who self-identifies via our grateful patient or annual appeal expressing interest in how to leave AVH in their estate plans or wanting information on how to do so, secure documentation for planning purposes.
• Update Raiser’s Edge Database; create gift illustrations for a variety of vehicles including CRUT, CLAT, CGA, and CRAT using PG Calc. Work with donor’s estate planning attorneys to provide wording for inclusion of AVH in their estate plans.
• Develop a stewardship or recognition program for those donors who have included AVH as part of their charitable gift planning.
• Active partner with employee giving campaign providing instructions and assisting employees who want to include AVH in their estate plans.
• Work with CDO and other frontline fundraisers to create agreements for gifts to establish permanent endowment funding for the benefit of AVH.
• Provide written acknowledgement of planned gifts, draft acknowledgements for those gifts from senior leadership.
• Work with area attorneys to facilitate gifts of property for the benefit of AVH.
• Maintain a library of resources (Colorado Life Estate deed forms; how to access beneficiary forms for your IRA; how to establish and the benefits of charitable gift annuities; make a gift of life insurance; make a gift from the AVH 457 plan; and IRA recommended minimum distribution gift strategies).
• Create brochures describing varying ways to give from your estate; document procedures for entrance into the bequest society.
• Host cultivation events; facilitate introductions for interested parties with AVH leadership.
• Attend classes/conferences for continuing education.
• Provide support and backup for foundation office staff; participate and contributes to board meetings
• Become knowledgeable about AVH, its operations and strategic plans so that you can be a good ambassador of AVH in the community and its value as a community resource.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

• Two years experience with securing a variety of planned gifts and familiarity with all forms of charitable gifts such as CGAs, CRAT, CLAT, CRUT.
• Willingness to learn about charitable giving vehicles for which they may not be familiar.
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards, including accuracy and attention to detail in executing any gift agreement and gift calculation.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Preference for an attorney who has experience facilitating a client’s estate plan.

Benefits & Compensation:

Hire-in rates of pay are based upon the relevance of years of experience, education and certifications. Our talent acquisition team will help you understand how your direct experience will be considered. This is a .8 FTE position (32 hours/week equivalent)

Salary range for new hires at .8 FTE: $96,544 – $ 125,615
