Aspen University is looking for experienced a Academic Advising Manger to join our amazing BSN-PL Core Academic Advising team!

Position Description

The Core Academic Advising Manager is responsible for managing a team of BSN PL Core Academic Advisors over multiple campuses. Focusing on the BSN PL vertical, this position works closely with the academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken in regard to all student advising needs. The manager also works closely with BSN-PL leadership to ensure student success and assists the Director of Student Services in the preparation and implementation of department-wide goals, procedures, and controls.

Major/Essential Functions

• Oversee, manage and support a team of CORE Academic Advisors; conduct one-on-ones and team meetings in order to create goals and implement cultural and retention strategies
• Collaborate with PL leadership and director to create and conduct training for advising and management team to ensure professional and leadership development.
• Liaison between advising department and other departments to ensure proper communication and support
• Communicate with program Deans and Directors regarding policies and student concerns
• Oversee and manage day-to-day operations
• Assist and implement retention initiatives
• Resolve student escalations
• Collaborate on tasks with AA Managers and Senior AAs; update call reports, dashboard, and department website
• Time and PTO tracking
• Perform call reviews
• Monitor phone calls, chats and emails for quality assurance
• Assist with hiring process
• Training and development of all new PL advisors
• Assign New Student Orientations
• Travel to PL campuses as needed
• Assist in the development and implementation of campus driven initiatives
• Collaborate with PL leadership to ensure a seamless student transition from PPN to Core
• Other duties assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
• 3 years of advising experience in an accredited institution of higher education

Preferred

• Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education
• 1-3 years of experience in a leadership role in a higher education setting

Equipment/Skills/Knowledge needed to perform the job

• Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
• Effective communication skills to support interaction with students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds regarding financial aid program requirements and procedures
• Ability to exercise sound judgment
• Proficiency in using administration software
• Proficiency in use Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and email
• Ability to perform business math computations and maintain accurate financial records
• Ability to research, analyze and evaluate service delivery methods and techniques
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Skilled in the preparation of a variety of correspondence
• Ability to plan and organize work and meet schedules and timelines
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with individuals and groups effectively
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team member
• Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure and meet deadlines

Schedule/Working Conditions/Environment

• This job is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Normal office environment with noise levels that are quiet to moderate
• Attendance at conferences and seminars may be required
• Some evening and weekend hours may be required
