Aspen University is currently seeking a DNP Full Time Faculty to join our amazing team!

Position Description

The primary role of the Full Time Faculty will be that of course facilitator and mentor to Aspen University students during the students’ academic experiences. Faculty will take all actions to obtain and maintain a culture of student, staff, and faculty success and will be expected to work with the other Coordinators, Directors and Deans, as well as university leadership and committees. Full Time Faculty collaborate to create and maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning, scholarship, and professionalism and will perform the following responsibilities:

• Teach the assigned courses in the appropriate programs, as determined by the Dean and DNP Program Director.
• Maintain regular and substantive interaction with students.
• Proactively and consistently provide University students with quality scholarly feedback, guidance, supportive interactions and genuine performance assessments that are professional, fair and timely on both assignments and in the discussions. Specifically, provide scholarly feedback, guidance, and supportive interactions with students in regard to their performance and classroom success. All grades are due within 7 days of submission.
• Ensure Aspen students receive the highest quality educational experience in pursuit of Aspen University’s educational objectives. Specifically, proactively and regularly initiate and post meaningful contributions to all appropriate course discussion threads for the purpose of stimulating the students’ academic experience and keeping the discussions on topic. Additionally, faculty will provide a classroom learning experience that is rich in Web 2.0 tools that promote achievement, community, and personalization.
• Initiate and maintain retention and persistence efforts to help students be successful in, and satisfactorily complete, Aspen courses.
• Actively participate in course revisions and university governance as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

In conjunction with these responsibilities, the role of Faculty will include:

• Complete a faculty file including official transcripts to meet accreditation,
• Participate in faculty trainings and surveys when appropriate,
• Protect the confidentiality of student records according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA),
• Remain current in areas of personal expertise and service,
• Submit reflections and observations on course delivery activities and make recommendations for improving online education at Aspen,
• Communicate with Aspen University Deans and Aspen Leadership on course delivery improvements as needed,

Maintain and demonstrate professional knowledge of and proficiency in:

• Use of a designated Aspen Learning Management System (LMS),
• Aspen University’s academic offerings (i.e. curricula, programs, courses, policies and procedures),
• Best practices for delivering online education, and
• Best practices for academic mentoring and coaching

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The Full Time Faculty shall hold a current registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in pertinent states; and

• A doctorate degree from an accredited program;
• Experience using ProjectConcert platform and mentoring DNP Project Students
• Minimum 2 years of experience working within nursing higher education
• A minimum of 2 years’ work experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
• Demonstrated experience in working with online learning management platforms
• Detail-oriented, organized, logical and critical thinker
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Demonstrated passion for the Aspen mission and vision

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Microsoft Office Suite and Google’s G-Suite and ZOOM usage
