Aspen University Hiring for Academic Advisor – Remote at Remote Full Time

Aspen University is currently seeking an Academic Advisor to join our amazing Academic Advising team! This position is a remote position.

Position Description:

The Academic Advisor is responsible for supporting and retaining students from registration of their first course through graduation. This position will work directly with all administrative departments throughout the university as well as with the student to ensure successful completion of the student’s degree.

Essential Functions:

• Provide excellent customer service in all areas.
• Provide support to students on issues related to their educational journey including the use of technology, issues related to their coursework, grading, instructors, policy or time management in order to assist them in successfully completing their degree program.
• Conduct New Student Orientation calls with new students
• Provide positive intervention in areas where students need support throughout their degree program.
• Serve as an advocate for all assigned students.
• Act as a liaison between students and faculty, when necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to work collaboratively with others in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent public speaking skills to effectively address groups in team meetings and trainings
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to provide exceptional customer support services
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with and effectively serve students
• Ability to create study plans that are tailored to the specific needs of each student
• Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education;

Preferred

• Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution of higher education
• 1-3 years of experience in advising or customer service role

Equipment/Skills/Knowledge needed to perform job:

• Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
• Effective communication skills to support interaction with students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds regarding financial aid program requirements and procedures
• Ability to exercise sound judgment
• Proficiency in using administration software
• Proficiency in use Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, email and Google Suite
• Ability to perform business math computations
• Ability to research, analyze and evaluate service delivery methods and techniques
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to plan and organize work and meet schedules and timelines
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with individuals and groups effectively
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team member
• Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure and meet deadlines

Schedule/Working Conditions/Environment:

• This job is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM with Mountain Daylight Time hours (Colorado)
• Normal office environment with noise levels that are quiet to moderate
• Attendance at conferences, seminars, and commencement ceremonies may be required
• Some evening and weekend hours may be required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 – $45,000.00 per year
