As the lead python engineer you will be leading a team of engineers and working closely with Data Scientists. Your team will be designing and building cloud-scale Services and API’s within the AI & Data Science platform at ASOS.

You will be leading your team in handling all aspects of development – design, development, build, development, monitoring, and operations.

You will work collaboratively with solution architects, scientists and other engineers to ensure the technical requirements of our product managers and stakeholders are met in the most efficient way.

You will be continually developing and improving our code and technology, taking an active role in the conception of brand-new features for our millions of global customers. You will take part in regular Tech Develops days to learn new things, take part in internal and external hackathons, and share your knowledge and help drive improvements in engineering.

You will be mentoring and coaching junior members of the team, supporting their technical progress. You will research and experiment with emerging data technologies and industry trends, with a view to brining business value through early adoption.

• You will have strong programming knowledge, with a high degree of proficiency in Python, and familiarity with python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy, as well as having broad and deep knowledge of software delivery lifecycles and CI/CD toolsets, such as Azure DevOps, Ansible, TeamCity and Jenkins.
• You will have a working knowledge and will be able to lead and mentor your team within tools and practices available and appropriate to each phase of the software delivery process, such as TDD, BDD, Integration Testing and Performance Testing.
• You will have experience and be comfortable working within cloud-based development and delivery platform, ideally Microsoft Azure.
• You will have experience working with relational and non-relational database technologies, as well as an exposure to a microservices architecture and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• You thrive in working in a cross-functional platform, including scientists, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders. You are approachable, collaborative and you actively nurture a diverse and inclusive workplace.
• You pride yourself on your engineering practices and will be comfortable providing technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to a motivated development team. You will contribute to wider engineering initiatives across ASOS.
