Setting Out Engineer – Topographical Surveyor – Land Surveyor

We are working with a market leading processing solutions company who offer a “one stop shop” for all material processing plant solutions for the construction and civil engineering industries. They currently have a number of large projects underway across England and due to a period of growth are looking for an experienced Topographical Surveyor (Setting Out Engineer) to join their site based team in the Birmingham area.

This is a permanent opportunity based in Birmingham that can offer an immediate start for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities include:

• Work as part of the team to ensure works are carried out efficiently on site and done right first time
• Setting out for works in advance of commencement
• Recording works on site for remeasurement under the contract
• Assisting with quality records on site
• Developing designs for the machine control software and loading onto site machines
• Ensuring machines are working correctly on site
• Carrying out daily volume surveys and producing volume reports to track progress and material movements
• Support the commercial team with site activity reporting
• Works are carried out correctly first time on time
• Zero remedials required on site
• Ensure good client and project team relationship
• Build a relationship with the clients survey team on site to win confidence on how the works are carried out daily
• Accurate measures supported by clear coherent data that is verifiable with client

Skills / Experience:

• Demonstrable experience of topographical survey in a heavy civils/earthworks environment
• Knowledge of modern GPS survey equipment, Trimble experience desirable but not essential
• Total station/laser scanning experience advantageous but not essential
• AutoCAD proficiency for production of deliverables
• LSS proficiency desirable
• Machine control equipment knowledge/experience desirable
• SSSTS/SMSTS desirable
• CSCS card
• FFW medical
