Role Responsibilities
As the Technical Architect for Software Development in ASIO, you will:
  • Set the technical direction, provide leadership and apply your own subject matter expertise to deliver and support fit for purpose development environments with effective pipelines into production environments.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of technology specialists, software developers, security professionals and systems administrators to build and sustain capabilities which support modern development practices within the broader organisation and with industry partners.
  • Invest in the development of other technologists including actively mentoring and coaching on best practice approaches to software development.
  • Build productive relationships across the organisation and with partners. In this role, your ability to lead and influence will hold equal importance with your technical subject matter expertise.

Key attributes
We invite applications from experienced candidates who can demonstrate the following:
  • Experience implementing Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment using code repository management software, code quality assurance and software package management;
  • Experience designing and engineering applications for deployment into Kubernetes-based container environments.
  • Experience implementing and supporting cloud-based software development environments.
  • Well developed stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills to deliver business outcomes
  • An eagerness to learn and inspire others, particularly regarding new methodologies and technologies.
  • Proven ability to balance competing priorities and exercise sound judgement.
  • Resilience and personal accountability for the quality of advice and delivery of results.

Employment conditions
Employment is under the ASIO Act 1979. Conditions of service are similar to those applying in the Australian Public Service. We recognise entitlements accrued under the Public Service Act 1999 and provide for continuation of superannuation under the Commonwealth schemes. Salary packaging arrangements are also available.
