Arriva UK is recruiting for an HR Business Partner to join our team in Merseyside. The purpose of the role is to provide leadership and support for the people agenda across multiple sites. This involves working with depot Leadership teams to develop the overall people plans, delivering core HR processes, particular focus on proactive ER/IR support service to line managers. Leading the people agenda, building operational capability, shaping culture, and supporting our Employee Relations strategy. The role will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering HR projects and initiatives to support an exciting transformation phase, coordinating this effectively across UK Bus. Driving improved Organisational performance at both, site & Opco level.
This role is permanent, full time, flexible, hybrid work available with travel requirements.
Responsibilities
Give consistent guidance on ER/IR cases and situation in a timely way, managing a large case load professionally to minimize the risk of ET claims.
Ensure discipline and grievance processes are carried out efficiently and equitably in accordance with Company procedures
Involvement in pay and policy negotiations and central negotiations committee meetings as appropriate
Responsible for building and fostering good union relations within your area
Lead the engagement agenda across the sites, driving key people metrics and delivering opportunities to develop employee engagement and performance
Contribute to the business strategic plans to reduce attrition and implement initiatives to improve employee retention.
Ensure you deliver flawless execution of all Core HR people processes i.e. Attendance management, Discipline, Grievance case management, Pay/bonus review, objective setting Review, Performance Management Cycles, Talent reviews & Succession Planning in line with Business Requirements
Partner with depot Management and regional Leadership Team on all organisational change projects and programs
Ensure recruitment is managed to UK Bus standards, partnering effectively with Centre of Excellence colleagues where necessary
Continuously work with Depot management to seek ways to reduce the level of long and short-term absence, ensuring that processes and policies are followed
Champion the Diversity & Inclusion, Health & Wellness, and ER agendas.
Drive the delivery of HR Projects for local sites and UK Bus; reflect the overall HR strategic plan and adapt to the different needs of sites.
Work alongside Area HRBP colleagues within Group/Plc. To challenge and evolve policies, processes and best practice initiatives as appropriate and in line with business plans
Maintain proactive and engaging lines of communication with management forum representatives and Trade Union officials/representatives
Lead and or contribute to UK wide HR activity / projects
Proactively share best practice, intelligence, and potential cross functional activities back into the HR function
About you
Has a successful track record as a HR Generalist/Business Partner within multi-site, service led environments
Experience and understanding of leading and implementing change initiatives and operating in organisation’s going through substantial business transformation.
Is motivated by identifying and assessing opportunities for continuous improvement
Is a self starter with a proven ability to gain buy-in and deliver results that add value and fit with the brand values of the organisation
Can flex between shaping the people plan of the business with providing hands on support, helping the business identify issues and improve
Can coach, engage and support, working with multiple stakeholder across the business and the wider Arriva Group
Ability to establish rapport and credibility at all levels
Strong influencing and collaboration skills to build effective relationships with all client groups & key stakeholders across the business
Strong analytical skills
Possess the relevant gravitas, credibility and ability to influence at a senior level
Proven track record of managing and evaluating projects effectively
Possess strong employment law/ER knowledge within unionised environments
Demonstrable experience in the following:

– Resourcing (desirable in the transport sector)
