The Role

We are recruiting for a Group Accountant to join our Carlisle office and become an integral part of our internal finance function, reporting to the Finance Partner. The role has become available following the decision by the previous holder of the role to pursue a challenging opportunity elsewhere.

The role will be varied, looking after seven group companies, and would include:

• Production of monthly accounting and statistical information for the firm
• Management and supervision of the internal finance function
• Information analysis
• Production of budgets and cashflow
• Production of statutory accounts and dealing with our auditors
• General partnership matters
• Dealing with the tax affairs of the group businesses, especially VAT and PAYE/NI
• Supervision of the credit control function
• Involvement in property and insurance matters for the firm
• Treasury management for the group

The Candidate

Candidates for this post should be qualified accountants and have a detailed understanding of accounts production, together with good IT skills, in particular Excel. Applicants must also have the ability to work to a high standard under pressure, be able to deal with people at all levels of the business, and have knowledge of VAT and accounting regulations. Some experience in a commercial environment and of professional practices would be desirable.
