We are looking for an individual that can help us continually improve and enhance our data platform, guided by our experienced business users and data team.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a vital role at Armor Health. You will be responsible for designing and developing customized solutions within our data platform. This will involve meeting with business users, analyzing project objectives, defining the analytics, data sets and use of the data, and coding new data applications, pipelines, and models. Our data ecosystem is of great importance to us, so keeping the wider organization’s best interests in mind when composing and deploying any code will be an important part of your experience with Armor.

To ensure success as an Armor Data Engineer, you should have extensive experience working with big data tools, cloud deployments, development skills, and the ability to solve complex software problems.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and organize raw data to assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Build the infrastructure and processes required for optimal acquisition, metadata, extraction, transformation, loading of data , and workload management from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, open source, and Microsoft ‘big data’ technologies
• Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into healthcare data, clinical operations, organizational efficiency and other key business performance metrics
• Develop, deliver, and maintain complex data systems and optimal data pipeline architecture
• Conduct complex data analysis and report on results including trends and patterns
• Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
• Build algorithms and prototypes
• Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
• Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and data-analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems across multiple projects
• Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues, understand business needs and objectives and support their data infrastructure needs
• Create data tools for analytics and data team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader
• Assist with each release cycle to implement and deploy new/updates to existing applications and code
• Create timelines and development goals
• Test the stability and functionality of applications and pipelines
• Troubleshoot and fix bugs
• Writing documents and providing technical training
• Maintaining the security and integrity of the data and the overall ecosystem

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
• Previous work experience as a data engineer, preferably with 5+ years of experience using the following (or similar) software/tools:
  • Big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres, Mongo and Cassandra
  • Data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.
  • Microsoft cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift
  • Stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
  • Object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
• Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
• A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
• Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
• Good communication skills
• Ability to problem solve high-level software, data and application issues
• Data engineering certification (i.e. IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus
