Position Description:
The Faculty of Science and Mathematics in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts at the Polytechnic campus at Arizona State University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor with an emphasis in Horticulture starting in August of 2023. The successful candidate will join a team of faculty dedicated to quality instruction and groundbreaking research. Primary responsibilities are to lead courses, create innovative learning experiences, advise students, and provide service to the unit, college, and university (80% teaching: 20% service). The successful candidate will join the Biology team and work alongside chemistry, mathematics, and physics faculty dedicated to quality instruction.
Course assignments will be made at the undergraduate or graduate level and may include lectures and laboratories and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, in-person, or hybrid) on the Polytechnic campus in Mesa, Arizona. The teaching assignment typically is four courses per term (12 credit hours per semester or an equivalent combination of lecture and laboratory sections). Course assignments are determined by the faculty head and may include instruction in courses such as General Biology, Fundamentals of Sustainable Horticulture, Organic Gardening, Sustainable Landscape Practice, Landscape Plants and Design, or Urban Forestry.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Candidate must reside in Arizona or be willing to relocate.
