Lake Powell is the second largest man-made reservoir in the United States. It is on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona (most of it, along with Rainbow Bridge, is in Utah). It is a major vacation spot that around two million people visit every year. Our busy season starts April 1st, and ends October 31st. The reservoir is named for explorer John Wesley Powell, an American Civil War veteran who explored the river via three wooden boats in 1869.

The Food and Beverage Internship focuses on the hospitality management role. The position locations are high volume F&B operations on Lake Powell. This position encompasses the entire F&B operation at 4 unique outlets. The employee will spend two weeks in each operational area position learning the following:

• Host/Cashier – customer service skills, cash handling, POS system use, exposure to reservation system, interaction with tour groups/guides
• Server – F&B standards, guest interaction, wine/beverage service, allergen awareness, executing correct steps of service
• Bartender – service of cocktails and various spirits, craft/domestic beer, wines. Working service bar to provide beverage for guests in the dining room as well as the lounge.
• Food Running and Bussing – customer service skills, time and temperature control of buffet items, stocking, interaction with culinary staff
• Barista – customer service skills, cash handling, POS system use, use of various equipment for making hot/cold coffee and tea items
• S2L’s Choice– the final 2 weeks of the internship can be the students’ choice. Possibility to assist in other departments as needed.
