A&R Transportation Corporation Hiring for Logistics Coordinator at St Thomas, VI Full Time

Position Description:

The Logistics Coordinator Position will be responsible for all aspects of three shipping agencies. Our ideal candidate must understand the Virgin Islands Custom Clearance Entry processes and be prepared to learn or master the procedures of Customs Border Protection Acts, Trade Agreements, local EDC Laws, and Customs and Border Protection Import Requirements. This candidate must have some knowledge of Import and Export Logistics. They will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of supply chain management, ensuring the flow of imported material shipments, and meeting all applicable laws so that entry can occur. Our Logistics Coordinator will work closely with our Customs Entry Agent, ensuring that correct invoices are used according to customers’ documentation and ensuring that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the importation of goods into the region. Determine and track duties and taxes payable and process payments on behalf of our clients. Must be available to travel on and off the island.

Qualifications:

A valid United States Driver’s License Candidate must be able to read and write the English language ( Bilingual plus). Candidate must be a pro at computer programs such as but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and email. Previous Knowledge of Customs and Excise procedures is preferred. This position does not offer a relocation package.

• Logistics: 1 year (Preferred)
• Valid VI Drivers License
• Bi-lingual a plus

Day-to-Day Duties:

• Negotiate with suppliers, retailers, and delivery operators
• Regularly communicate with customers to understand their supply needs
• Coordinate the allocation of products for inventory to keep warehouse capacity at optimal levels
• Coordinate shipments for delivery, including managing necessary personnel, to maximize efficiency and profitability
• Promptly resolve shipment and inventory issues as they arise
• Process freight claims and billing
• Build loads
• Set up carriers
• Schedule pickup and delivery appointments
• Update agency systems and monthly Excel Spreadsheets
• Update customers with critical information, etc.
• Ensure proper documentation is sent to Carrier Resources
• Update active load information into the system for shipper and carrier tracking
• Call carriers to inquire about lanes, equipment types, and quantities
• Answer phones and assist customers with shipments and monitor cargo releases
• Match invoices to files
• Negotiate with suppliers, retailers, and delivery operators
• Regularly communicate with customers to understand their supply needs
• General Office Duties
• Work with the accounting department to process freight claims and billing

Salary Range: $17 – $20 per hour
