Manager of M&A Accounting with an Atlanta-based private equity portfolio company.


Summary

The Manager of M&A Accounting will be fully remote, and will focus on transforming the finance and accounting functions of the firm’s portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

• Advise portfolio companies on best practices relevant to accounting department structure and function.
• Partner with leaders to develop and integrate people, process and systems including the development of adequate internal control structures.
• Responsible for accurately identifying and recording the necessary purchase accounting adjustments and disclosures for portfolio companies including assisting with real property and intangible asset valuations.
• Research the appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions and assist portfolio companies with recording the proper journal entries.
• Develop internal and external reporting processes and procedures for portfolio companies where needed.
• Assist in developing methods and techniques to analyze company financial performance and offer solutions for improvement.
• Support accounting system implementations as needed.
• Develop and manage project plan for the integration of accounting functions at portfolio companies.
• Monitor progress against goals and ensure that integration efforts meet and exceed expectations.
• Complete special projects as needs arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
• CPA required.
• 4+ years of public accounting and industry experience with a demonstrated ability to deliver results in fast-paced environment.
• Merger and acquisition experience, specifically related to integration of people, processes and systems.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to independently manage competing priorities and execute with accuracy and efficiency.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects across functional areas influencing stakeholders and driving results.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships easily and communicate effectively.
• Hands-on and results driven.
• Self-starter, critical thinker, and solutions oriented.
• Solid technical knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience with purchase accounting and valuation work.
• Familiarity with tax and accounting implications of various deal structures.
• Familiarity with close processes, account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Knowledge of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley.
• 30% Travel required.
