Join our Wireless Technologies and Ecosystems team and help deliver great customer experience within our EMEA Carrier team as a Carrier Projects Engineer! We are looking for a talented individual with outstanding communication skills and exceptional technical knowledge of cellular and wireless technologies to work collaboratively with our EMEA carrier partner engineering teams to launch Apple’s wireless devices and innovative iOS software features! The successful individual will have extensive protocol stack knowledge of wireless technologies (UMTS / LTE / 5G-NR / IMS) to allow in-depth technical discussions both internally and externally, and to effectively triage issues using log analysis tools. The role also requires excellent project management skills to drive carrier test and validation cycles and ensure all issues are understood and resolved on time for successful commercialisation of Apple’s wireless devices and iOS/WatchOS software features on carrier’s networks.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years prior experience working on phone or similar products operating on carrier networks
- Demonstrated ability working directly with carriers managing end to end device certification including lab/field testing
- Extensive proficiency and proven experience analysing device logs and troubleshooting wireless features and protocols for IMS, 5G-NR, 4G, 3G
- Applied knowledge of VoLTE / VoWiFi / GSMA RSP
- Proven project management experience delivering complex technical projects
- Proven ability to build effective cross-functional relationships with both external and internal stakeholders
- Scripting knowledge and experience (perl/python/javascript)
- Proven planning and exceptional communication skills with outstanding verbal and written English language skills
- Willingness to travel internationally, as necessary
Description
The Carrier Projects Engineer is the key technical interface between our Carriers and Apple’s engineering, sales and marketing teams, and is accountable for a successful project delivery. As part of Projects Engineering team, we work together with internal carrier technical account core-team to understand a carrier’s readiness for delivering Apple’s Wireless products and iOS software features. Once a carrier is ready for deployment, Projects Engineering team engage directly with carriers and manage the end to end device/software certification process against defined breakthroughs. The certification process involves reviewing carrier network design, driving carrier testing, log analysis and issue management. The role may involve occasional international travel (10-20%).
Education & Experience
BS or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
