Do something different! Apple is seeking for an outstanding optical module engineer who can contribute to the design, prototyping, and validation of ground breaking display technologies. In this role, you’ll work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to develop new display products from concept to mass production.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in the field of optics with a strong emphasis on driving project through iterative stages of design, modeling, tolerancing, and manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of opto-mechanical design and passive athermalization
  • Proven understanding with high precision lens design, assembly, and alignment process
  • Experience in mass production of consumer optical devices
  • Proficiency in one or more scientific computing languages (e.g., Matlab, C, /C++/C#, Python, etc.) for the data analysis and optical modeling
  • Strong presentation, communication, analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

Description

– Identify novel optical and opto-mechanical solutions for next-gen display technologies – Analyze, optimize, and tolerance display optical systems involving illumination and imaging – Work with key stack holders to iterate design, account for process limitation, follow through between modeling and as-built performance – Effectively communicate the advantages, disadvantages, and risks of the device – Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including mechanical and process engineers, to develop and implement optical design and engineering solutions that meet project requirements and schedules

Education & Experience

– M.S. or Ph.D. in Optical Science/Engineering, EE/Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of validated experience

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in sequential and non-sequential rays trace tools (e.g., Zemax, LightTools), design, analysis, optimization, and tolerancing
    • Experience handling domestic and international vendors

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $130,000 and $242,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
